Description

An instructor should have the expressed authority of the President or of the Public Relations Directors if he/she proposes to make a statement in the name of the College . However, this should not prevent a faculty member from freely engaging in political or other activities, with the proviso that he/she "should at all times be accurate, should exercise appropriate restraint, should show respect for the opinions of others, and should make every effort to indicate that he/she is not an institutional spokesperson" (AAUP). (See also Academic Freedom and Responsibility, 2.9.1.).
