Description
An Associated Press story about the rising popularity of "mukbang"—a South Korea video fad highlighting loquacious binge eaters—features insights from SEBA's Michal Strahilevitz. The AP article "Binge Eating Videos Find Big Audience, Even for Weight Loss" tells the story of dieters who find the viewing of chatty binge eaters helpful, as they motivate them to stay on their diets. An associate professor of marketing at SMC, Strahilevitz, whose academic research includes a focus on consumer behavior, notes that observing this sort of extreme behavior is far more constructive than emulating it. The AP story was carried in more 270 media outlets across the country and locally, including SFGate, the sister website of the San Francisco Chronicle. In addition to AP, other national media outlets featuring Strahilevitz's comments included ABC News. Read the story.
