Description/Abstract
The current article explores how the writing of scenes based on complex ethical dilemmas, together with the repetition that is involved in the rehearsal and performance of those scenes, allow students to internalize their characters, understand their characters’ motivations, and truly experience their dilemmas. This is similar to the process that a playwright or an actor goes through when writing or performing for the theater. Their understanding of plots and characters is rooted in their capacity to imagine that they are facing those circumstances themselves.
